The presence can be increased for sharper sounds or turn it back to get a smoother sound, too much back though and it gets muffled. I dialled it in mostly along the lines of this – bass 2, mid turned fairly high to about 7, and treble was to taste but usually around 7. The Reaxis takes well to the included overdrive pedals which all help to push and tighten up any excessive bass or mid frequencies that need it, but of course the amp has the controls to tame or push everything how you like in the very responsive dials on the front. The controls are dead easy and intuitive, they are all nicely laid out in plain sight on the main panel – as intended by Mesa/Boogie in their initial concept and designing of the unit – and they react great to movements of your mouse wheel or scrolling on a laptop – also with your keyboard’s arrow keys. I had a great time A/B testing the Reaxis along with various video demonstrations of the Triaxis – one of the best I’ve found by Ola Englund (who actually has a bunch of presets that come with the plugin) and to my ears it nails it. The Reaxis is a truly remarkable plugin and in my opinion captures the essence of the Triaxis exceptionally well. Option to load your own reverb IR (mono/stereo)Īs I write this – the Reaxis is still actively purring softly in the background, ready for my intended return, where I shall continue shoving the meatiest of riffs at it whilst it wrestles with its morals, and questions those further as I attempt to play some lead guitar from my favourite tracks from an album that needs no more attention than it already has garnered.Option to load your own cabinet IR (mono/stereo).Selection of cabs and mic models, IRs from Redwirez.Delay and reverb can be used in parallel to get a more expressive effect without extra routing.Included effects: 3x Overdrives, Cry Baby Wah, Chorus, Delay, Reverb.Change between choice of 3 different power amp tubes.8 separate channel modes across 3 channels.

Capable of going through all the clean / crunch / distorted sounds that the Mark series and the Rectifier series had to offer, and even a British style channel came included, the Triaxis had everything for those who needed all the tonal options in one place.įor many studio users and performing artists such as Metallica’s James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett, or Dream Theater’s John Petrucci, the Triaxis was the holy grail of tone, and the most practical piece of kit for touring and studio work. After 3 years of development, Mesa Boogie knocked it out of the park in 1991 by launching the Triaxis – a rack-mountable, 90 preset, fully programmable midi controllable All-Tube Preamp with 8 different modes.
